【鸡大婶】上学期我们结识了字母a，知道它在重读开音节中读字母本身音/ei/, 如lake /leik/, face /feis/, name /neim/等；在重读闭音节中发短元音//, 如bag /bg/, map /mp/, fat /ft/等。可随着所学词汇的增多，发现它还有许多特殊发音，酷猫、菲菲、淘气你们赶快行动，与字母a进行零距离接触吧。
【酷猫】我正面接触了字母a，知道它还有如下发音规则：
1. a前面是w, wh时它读//音。如want /wnt/, wash /w/, what /wt/等。
2. a后面是ss, sk, sp, st, f时发/a:/音。如class /kla:s/, ask /a:sk/, grasp /gra:sp/等。
【菲菲】 我感受到了字母a的超级组合al, au, augh, aw, ai, ay, air。它们在单词中发音规则如下：
1. al一般读作/:/，如ball /b:l/, talk /t:k/, wall /w:l/等； 有时也可读作/:l/, 如also /`:lsu/, salt /s:lt/等；当后面有f或m时，还可读成/a:/, 如half /ha:f/, calm /ka:m/等。
2. au和augh在重读音节中一般发/:/, 如because /bi`k:z/, daughter /`d:t/, taught /t:t/等。但laugh /la:f/除外。

(1)小写p，q，d，b
这一组是学生在初学英语时最容易混淆的。要区分它们就要从它们各自半圆的朝向上区分。为了简便起见我们可以编成口诀让学生来记忆。如：p可说右上半圆ppp;q左上半圆qqq;d可说左下半圆ddd;b可说右下半圆bbb。
(2)小写i和j
在写法上也是一组易混淆的。四线三格的所属位置上i只占中上格，j却占三格。
(3)小写g和小写y也应注意
主要是因为g和y上面的开口会使学生混淆，所以在范写的时候应特别注意。
(4)小写f和t
这一组在结构上非常相似，只不过是一个朝上，一个朝下所以应注意。
(5)小写u和v
这一组的区别就是它们下部的圆底和尖底的区别。
