Dear _,
I first realised I wanted to study Psychology when studying Drama, because in order to portray characters I had to understand their mind and develop their personality. I found the differences in characters were so vast that it made me want to understand these variations. Since beginning the course in College I have been truly captivated by all areas of psychological theory and research, and am eager to contribute to the understanding we have about the behaviour of human and non-human animals. In particular, I am fascinated by the fundamental debates in Psychology, for example the nature nurture debate. A Forensic and Investigative Psychology conference I attended, presented by Professor David Canter, caught my attention as I found it intriguing that people can behave in such a way that will offend others and often feel little or no remorse. After reading his book, “Mapping Murder”, my interest in abnormality and psychopathology rapidly increased, as his book and conference allowed me to understand the psychology behind this type of behaviour, amplifying my interest in the subject. I enjoy reading about different studies that have been conducted in the past, which I can analyse and evaluate to obtain a more advanced understanding of behaviours exhibited.
As a peer mentor, my job was to attend to the needs of younger or more vulnerable students and to offer them full support. This job requires patience and compassion, along with willingness to help and motivate others. I have received certificates and awards for good behaviour, attendance, punctuality and performing arts, demonstrating my enthusiasm in everything I do. My work experience in the retail industry has given me the chance to develop critical skills which are essential such as; good communication with others, a strong determination to achieve my best and dedication to all work I undertake. As an A2 Psychology student, I received the Student of the Month award for my outstanding enthusiasm, effort and achievement. Drama & Theatre Studies has given me an alternative perception of human behaviour, the intensity of emotions and the variations inherent in that. Music Technology has helped me develop my analytical and concentration skills. I am also a member of the Student Council, where I represent my fellow students and have a great responsibility to ensure that their views are heard and acted upon.
I enjoy reading a range of books from novels to biographies as well as books to support my academic studies. Currently I am reading “The Selfish Gene” by Richard Dawkins to support my understanding of Evolutionary Psychology. I find it fascinating that natural and sexual selection can provide ultimate explanations for the behaviour of animals, including humans. I also enjoy sports, such as swimming, cricket, tennis and hockey, resulting in my competitive nature and desire to succeed. I have had a variety of part time jobs in which I have had to work with the public and satisfy their needs whilst working under pressure to complete assorted tasks. Although I am looking forward to going to university, I have decided to take a gap year and hopefully attend Camp America, where I would work with young people as a Counsellor, ensuring their health and safety, and keeping them entertained. My role will depend on my ability to have strong authority but also an approachable manner at all times and I am confident I can carry out the role with the utmost professionalism. I am eager to study Psychology in as much depth as possible, and I intend to practise a career in the fields I am particularly interested in - Clinical and Pathological Psychology. I believe that I will make an outstanding undergraduate who will appreciate having the opportunity to study and expand my knowledge in a reputable learning environment.

1.俄罗斯冬期较长(11月到次年4月),但室内温度都在20度左右,只需穿薄衣,外出的话需要套上羽绒服;
2.夏天的温度不高,30度左右,所以空调较少使用,但夏天日照较强,女生带把遮阳伞;
3.携带服装建议:羽绒服长款、短款,毛衣、羊毛衫、秋衣秋裤、长短T恤;风衣、防雨夹克、运动服等;
4.女生可以多带自己的内衣,娇小的女生在国内多带衣服,因国外尺码较大;
5.建议女生带上一套合理、轻便的礼服;男生可携带一套修身西服,在一些重要场合穿着使用;

Dear _,
In everyday life, people take for granted that some people are good at things and some people are not. But I have always believed that human beings are capable of far more than they realise. It is this interest in human potential that motivates me to want to work as an Educational Psychologist.
I have always had an interest in the human mind, but never considered working in this field. However, personal experience of ADHD and autism led me to volunteer at an autistic unit in a local primary school, which I have now been at for almost two years. Whilst there, I realised that my interest in the Autistic Spectrum and ADHD was more than a passing curiosity. My experience at the school provided me with a deeper understanding of these conditions, and, combined with my interests in educational psychology and technologies such as entrainment and biofeedback, led me to consider the potential application of these to assist such children in reaching their full potential. One day I returned home with a sense of exhiliration, and realised that helping autistic children was something that I wanted to pursue as a professional psychologist.
I have also worked voluntarily as a teaching assistant at a local college. My duties included creating certificates, writing course manuals, and supervised teaching. In addition, I was comissioned by the charity DYCF to teach relaxation techniques to “difficult teens” as part of a remedial programme, and wrote a report of recommendation. This demonstrates that I am able to empathise and interact with a variety of people in a range of educational settings, as well as cope with a high workload.
I spent some time researching careers in psychology and it was quite clear that Educational Psychology was the route for me. Although I had studied Counselling Skills in --- and DD100: Introduction to the Social Sciences previously with the Open University, it was of course a case of preparing myself for Higher Education. So in I enrolled on DSE212: Exploring Psychology, with the Open University. My overall assesment score on DD100 had been 81, but of course it has been a while since my last formal academic study. Hence I was pleased to receive my first essay back from the Open University ----, scored at 83, giving much promise for my future studies.
At the same time, however, I have worked hard to overcome my difficulty with mathematics. So I enrolled on GCSE Mathematics: Foundation. I recently used accelerated learning protocols such as mnemonics and entrainment to learn my timestables in just under two weeks, and have also enrolled on a second course for extra help. Because of this, I am now confident of achieving a grade C in Mathematics, and believe that this demonstrates my committed and creative approach to learning, as well as my practical application of psychological research.
I read psychological articles and reports in New Scientist, Scientific American, and Psychology Today. I also keep up to date by researching psychology online, and have a particular interest in the research of the HeartMath and Monroe Institutes, and the application of their research and technology within education and therapy. My latest read has been Human Givens: a new approach to emotional health and clear thinking, by Joe Griffin and Ivan Tyrrell .
Having a keen analytical mind as well as a deep empathy for working with children, I look forward to continuing my study of Psychology. My ultimate aim is to apply psychological techniques to help the autistic and ADHD populations achieve their full potential, and hopefully add to and expand the current theoretical understanding of these conditions.
Yours sincerely,

Dear _,
What motivates humans to behave in the ways we do? Are there external factors which need to be taken into consideration? Or perhaps we should take more of an internal approach? The study of the mind and behaviour attempts to answer these questions, and if it was not for this versatile science, a lot of questions would be left unanswered. Investigating studies dealing with the 'abnormal', conformity and eye witness testimony allows me to further immerse myself; it has given me a better understanding of how individuals behave and act in society as a whole. No longer do I want Psychology to be just an interest of mine, but want it to shape my career as a chartered psychologist.
To deepen my knowledge of this discipline further, I am a volunteer for experiments at UCL. The skills of analysis and evaluation acquired whilst completing my A Levels has granted me a fascinating insight into investigations outside of the syllabus. A specific experiment I took pleasure in was eye movements and language study. Learning about how words shape meaning allowed me to see a theory put into practice and improved my understanding of perceptual processes and development.
Through my other A Levels I have gained transferable skills for Psychology, and these A Levels have illustrated aspects of the subject. Studying English Literature allows me to enhance my written ability, which is beneficial to the essays I construct in Psychology. Literature provides classic examples of how societies conform as a whole or how the minority deviate from the 'norm' set. Fine examples are portrayed through dystopian novels such as 'A Clockwork Orange' by Anthony Burgess and Orwell's '1984'. Sociology compliments my study of Psychology as I am able to distinguish between different theoretical perspectives on how societies function. As analysis and evaluation are frequent in this subject, I have been able to further enhance my ability to structure points in a coherent fashion.
I take an active role in my school community and have been selected for the position of deputy head boy: I am the school's representative to the general public. Part of my job specification is to give speeches and welcome guests to our school. My organisational, managerial and interpersonal skills have enhanced which has been beneficial to my esteem; these skills are vital for such an individually-orientated discipline. Previously working as a telephonist in an office developed and improved my skills of communication and time management, as well as to multi-task more efficiently. As a result, I am more confident communicating within a team and using my initiative.
Being counselled in the past has developed an interest in aiding other individuals and helping them to fulfil their potential. Last year I had the responsibility for tutoring a student from Russia aiding him with English. It gave me a great sense of fulfilment, and being able to learn about Russian culture and master phrases has enhanced my appreciation of how different people and societies function.
Sports are another interest of mine. I regularly ice-skate, and have achieved a variety of certificates as I am registered with the skate UK programme; my confidence in this ability has been enhanced and I am now pursuing my level five certificate. At university, I wish to pursue this hobby by joining up with the particular society, or creating it, if it does not exist.
Being a thoroughly conscientious and motivated student allows me to excel in my studies and my AS level grades represent this. Constantly adhering to deadlines I am set in school gives me the attitude and mindset essential for university level study. Studying at university will deepen my independence and studying Psychology will allow me to further analyse the world from a contemporary perspective. After completion of my degree, I hope to undertake relevant experience and study in order to make my dream of becoming an occupational psychologist a reality.

Dear _,
Thousands have tried to make their personal statement, witty and exciting, but have failed to make the grade. Again and again admissions tutors have bowed their heads in disappointment in not finding that special something needed to make it different from everyone else's. But there will be one, just one who will stand out from the crowd; one personal statement will be so amazing and spectacular that all the universities across the land will want this person in their university. As Thomas Edison said “I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.” But even Thomas Edison made fantastic discoveries, which changed his life and this world forever, and by reading this personal statement you are doing the same.
Having thoroughly enjoyed the study of Music, Law and Psychology, I have decided to study Psychology at university. My interests in this subject first came about when I achieved my first work experience in a primary school, and also doing other work experiences in holiday clubs. I then decided to do Psychology as an AS level in my 2nd year of A levels, so I can broaden my knowledge of the subject and confirm that Psychology was the right degree to study at university.
Since studying Psychology at greater depth at AS level, I have gained a much greater understanding in which Psychology affects human society. Our expanding knowledge of Psychology has given us insight into the ways in which we live, work and socialise in the modern world. Psychologists to date have given us answers about the human mind, which have influenced us in the way we present ourselves in human society, in which I consider it to be truly the “social science of society”. I keep myself aware of all the developments in Psychology and particularly child Psychology, by reading such publications as Psychology Review, which looks at demystifying Psychology, Psychologists experiments and updates on their research and an exam column for help with exam techniques, as well as using the Internet to broaden my knowledge of the subject.
Over the years I have been involved in a range of different work experiences. The first placement I was involved in was in , where I was working in a reception class at Kingsley Primary School for 2 weeks. I had various responsibilities where I had to supervise a group of 3-5 children whilst they participated in various activities such as Snakes and Ladders, which teaches them about Maths, being 1st 2nd and 3rd in the game. I had to supervise in other year group activities such as assembly, break and lunch times. I also helped the teacher set up the classroom in the morning and at the end of lunch to get ready for the morning and afternoons activities. It was a very rewarding experience and through it I gained valuable skills, I learned to be more patient and more creative, also learning to organise and handle a group of 4-5 year olds (which is not an easy task!) Currently I have a part-time job at a busy supermarket, which has enabled me to work and deal with a diverse range of people and it also gives me some financial independence.
At college I am a member of the schools music committee and I'm a member of the multi-cultural committee. Within these roles I have to help co-ordinate, the “international evening with the mayor” which is an evening of music, dance, history and drama from around the world, as well as putting on different events on throughout the year. In the music committee, I am the sixth-form assistant, in which I help co-ordinate junior orchestra. I also play the flute so I also perform in a number of concerts and soirees such as, the Christmas concert and the joint concert with the John Fisher Choir, which is also performed at Fairfield Halls. I find these roles to be extremely rewarding as they develop my teamwork and interpersonal skills as well as demonstrating my ability to handle responsibility. Outside of college I like to keep fit by cycling everyday after college. I also belong to a youth group in which we do various exciting activities such as bowling and going on camping weekends.
Some people dream of worthy accomplishments, whilst others stay awake and achieve them. “You see things; and you say, 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say 'Why not?'” George Bernard Shaw. It is with this determination to succeed and a keen interest in the subject that I approach this degree.

I have always had a keen interest in Mathematics from an early age. Fromstudying Maths at A-Level, I have gained further insight into the practicalapplication of the subject, especially in the “Decision Mathematics” modules. Itis this practical application that has led me to look at other maths-relatedsubjects such as finance, accounting and business. I am especially interested ina course combining maths, with one or more of these applications.
I have always had a logical, organised and practical way of thinking, aswell as a competitive nature, and maths has always appealed to thesecharacteristics. I have always enjoyed the challenging nature of mathematicalproblems, and have a diligent and resilient approach to any problem given to me.I find that discovering the correct answer to a problem, regardless of howfrustrating or difficult the challenge, extremely satisfying.
Dear _,
A fourth-year student grounded solidly in the basics of computer science, I am writing in pursuit of graduate studies that I hope can help me acquire cutting-edge expertise in software programming in general and parallel processing in particular.
Intrigued by the power of the computer since high school, I have been trying to stay on top of the computer science by concentrating my undergraduate studies on those subjects that underpin the discipline, particularly mathematics and electronics. To build up my solid knowledge in these subjects, I have taken virtually all the related courses that the university has had to offer. These courses include Algorithm & Data Structure, Mathematical Modeling, Network Theory, Digital Circuit, Discrete Mathematics, and Electric Circuit. With a sophisticated understanding in these areas, I have been well positioned to appreciate the basic theories of computer science and their applications to software development.
Aided by the firm command of the basics, I have found it not only easy but also exciting to study the various subjects covered by my major. As most of my classmates, I took a variety of courses ranging from AI to Computer Network, from AI Programming to Knowledge Engineering, from Pattern Recognition to Software Engineering, and from Database Design to Programming Language Design. But I distinguished myself by my academic record, which places me as one of the very top students in my class. My grades in these course never went below A or B. I have also stood out as one of the few who have taught themselves Real Time System and Computer Graphics.
Armed with sound training in the basic theories and applied technologies, I have been able to move on into deeper and wider areas of computer science. Early in my university life, I began to understand that the modern computer's base, the Turing machine, was reaching its limits in AI. Gradually, I have narrowed down my research interest to parallel & distributive computing, which I understand can significantly boost the performance of personal computers by giving them some of the functions of mainframe computers.
Of all the areas of computer science, parallel processing fascinates me the most. The term first came to me when I read the book Computer Organization & Design: the Hardware/Software Interface as part of my Computer Architecture course. By teaching me how the performance of computers can be improved through pipelining and parallel processing, the book reshaped my thinking in computer science.
My lab experience deepened my understanding of parallel processing. In my third year, I worked on a GIFT project with Dr. Komatsu, chief researcher of IBM Tokyo Research Laboratory and Dr. Koseki, one of Dr. Komatsu's colleagues. The project was to introduce the architecture supports that can allow compilers to derive more parallelism from programs. These architecture supports include three designs, a conditional execution mechanism to execute instructions without normal conditional jump instructions, speculative execution mechanism, and a dynamic memory disambiguation mechanism to execute memory access instructions simultaneously.
As undergraduate students seldom get to be involved in actual research, I took full advantage of the opportunity of working in the lab. I particularly enjoyed the seminars held twice a week as part of the lab work. At these seminars, I engaged in in-depth discussions with Master's students under Dr. Komatsu's seasoned guidance. The lab experience is adding weight and insights to my graduation paper An Improvement of Software pipelining using Loop Transformations. In this paper, I will introduce a translation algorithm using loop interchange and loop skewing. This algorithm can minimize the initiation interval of loop nest to improve the performance of software pipelining.
Through my lab experience and other research, I have developed a long-term professional objective: the advancement of the parallel processing technology. While I have strong faith in this technology, I also know its limitations as it is today. Some sequential algorithms can't be easily translated into fast parallel algorithms and most compilers can only distribute works on one platform. Another unsettled problem is that programming parallel computers is now still a manual work. But even the modern language (like Java, C++) can do some automatic translation work. If a compiler can be developed to translate and distribute work into different platforms, personal computers will be able to work like mainframe computers at a fraction of the mainframes' costs. This will make it possible to connect all the computers in the world and speed up all the processes.
To help take the parallel processing technology beyond what is capable of today, I have to undertake more advanced studies. This, I believe, can only be accomplished in a quality graduate program like yours. I plan to pursue a master's degree with a concentration on paralleling and distributing compilers, operating systems or computer networks, a combination thereof. With the training that goes into such an advanced degree, I think I will be able to take great strides towards fulfilling my professional objective. When I do, I think I will be standing on the cutting-edge of the computer science.
Yours sincerely,
xuexila
Dear _,
I am very honored to issue this formal recommendation letter for _ classmate. I am an associate professor in the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture of Jiaotong University. I graduated from Tongji University in Shanghai with a Ph.D. I am currently teaching road engineering courses in the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture of Jiaotong University. _The classmate has participated in the road engineering major of my professor for nearly two years, so I still know the classmate quite well. I recently learned that my classmate is going to study abroad for further study, and I hope I can write a letter of recommendation for him. I am very happy and gratified. As one of my best students, _ deserves a better education and more professional guidance. Therefore, I am honored to recommend this student to your school.
_ Classmate is a 20-level road engineering student in the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture of our school. After his junior year, I have been teaching _ classmate road engineering professional knowledge. During the period when I was teaching professional knowledge, he impressed me deeply with his hard work and strong thirst for knowledge. Every time he goes to class, he asks many questions, and he will never give up without clearing all the doubts. He is diligent in previewing and reviewing, and for some difficult knowledge points, he always takes notes carefully and discusses with me. In the course design of the latter part of his studies, he always reflected on the plan he designed, and actively asked me for advice, then went back to make adjustments, and then reflected. In short, _ students pursue perfection in every detail when designing. In my opinion, he is a very motivated classmate. So I very much hope that my classmate can continue his studies and be guided by teachers with higher academic achievement.
In view of the fact that _’s classmates, my colleagues and myself have high evaluations of _, I sincerely recommend him to your school and hope that he can be selected for your school’s study program. If you have any translations of your own situation and this recommendation letter, you are welcome to contact me according to the contact information provided below.
Yours sincerely,
