oneday, adonkey was carrying abundle ofwood and he fell into the river.

he struggled to come out fromthewaterbutinvain.thedonkeymoanedandcried for help.

some frogs in the water heard the cries.they came to the douke and said,“you only farll into the river once and you make such a fuss, how about us who stay in the water for such a iongfirne?how pitiful would that be?“

do not condemn people sho are not used to your own lifestyle.

A man bought a Donkey at the market one day and took him home on approval.

Now the man owned several Donkeys already and he knew each one's character very well.

One of the Donkey was very strong and brave. Another was eager to please but quickly exhausted.

有头驴又强壮、又勇敢;还有头驴急于讨人喜欢,可一会儿就累了;

One Donkey was very lazy. He hated going to work in the morning and he did as little as he possibly could all day long.

When the other animals were being loaded up he always tried to be the last so that he would get the lightest load.

The man led the new Donkey into the stable yard. For a moment he stood sniffing at his new companions. Then, without hesitation, he trotted up to the lazy Donkey and began feeding comfortably at his side.

Though it was late in the day, the man immediately led the new Donkey out of the yard, straight back to the market.

”You cannot have given him a fair trial yet, “said the merchant. ”It is only ten minutes since you bought him.“

”I don't need to try him any more,“ replied the man. ”I know just what he is like from the friend he chose for himself.

Take him away and give me my money back. I can do without Donkeys like him.“

Once there lived a man among the hills, who possessed a statue wrought by an ancient master, at lay at his door face downward and he was not mindful of it.

One day there passed by his house a man from the city, a man of knowledge, and seeing the statue he inquired of the owner if he would sell it.

The owner laughed and said, ”and pray who would want to buy that dull and dirty stone?“

The man from the city said, “I will give you this piece of silver for it.” And the other man was astonished and delighted.

The statue was removed to the city, upon the back of an elephant.

And after many months the man from the hills visited the city, and as he walked the streets he saw a crowd before a shop, and a man with a loud voice was crying, “

Come in and behold the most beautiful, the most wonderful statue in all the world. Only two silver pieces to look upon this most marvelous work of a master. ”

There upon the man from the hills paid two silver pieces and entered the shop to see the statue that he himself had sold for one piece of silver.

one day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. the animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do.

finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn’t worth it to retrieve the donkey.

he invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. they all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well.

at first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly.

then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down. a few shovel toads later the farmer finally looked down the well.

he was astonished at what he saw.with each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing.

he would shake it off and take a step up.

as the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up.

pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off.

the donkey later came back and bit the shovel out of the farmer who had tried to bury him.

the gash from the bite got infected, and the farmer early died in agony from septic shock.

life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt, the trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up.

each of our troubles is a steppingstone. we can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! shake it off and take a step up.

A wild donkey once met a tame donkey feeding on a hillside. The wild donkey was thin and small.

He spent his life out of doors, sheltering as best he could in the cold weather and eating the sparse hill grass all the year around.

He sometimes had to walk miles to find fresh water and at night there was always danger from prowling wolves.

The tame donkey was sleek and fat. During the summer he fed on the rich meadow grass while in winter he was given corn and hay to eat.

There was always a pail of fresh water for him to drink and at night he was shut safely in a stable. ”How lucky you are,“ said the wild donkey, ”I wish I could live like you.'

A few days later the wild donkey was once more foraging on the hillside. Looking down he saw the tame donkey walking slowly along the road, carrying a heavy load of wood.

As he watched, the tame donkey paused to enrich at a thistle growing by the roadside, immediately his driver began to shout and to beat him with a stick.

I've changed my mind about your way of life, thought the wild donkey” .I see that you have to pay heavily for the corn and hay they gives you.'

A blind ass, which had undertaken a long journey, wandered from the road into a forest.

As the night came on, our foolish fellow went so far into the thicket that it couldn't move either backward or forward; and even one who had eyes would have been unable to get out of that difficulty. But an owl, by good luck, happened to be in the neighbourhood, and offered to act as a guide to the ass.

We all know how well owls see at night. Hills, hillocks, precipices—all these our owl distinguished as if it had been daylight.By daybreak, it had made its way with the ass to the level road.

Now, how could any one part with such a guide? So the ass entreated the owl not to desert it, and determined to visit the whole world in the owl's company.

Our owl seated itself like a lord on the back of the ass, and the two friends began to continue their journey.

But did it prosper? No. The sun had scarcely begun to glow in the morning sky, when a greater than nocturnal darkness hid everything from the owl's eyes. But our owl is obstinate; it directs the ass at random.

“Take care!”it cries,“We shall tumble into a pool, if we go to the right.”

There was really no pool on the right; but on the left there was even worse.

“Keep more to the left—another pace to the left!”

And, the owl and the ass fell into the ravine together.
