基础英语写作第2版答案
part 1
On Confidence
As we all know, 'Failure is the mother of success.' But I just want to say'Success is the baby of confidence.'
First of all, confidence makes us happier in our life. Life is like a wonderful song, a bright and colorful painting. If confidence is with us in our life, we will find that life really becomes richer and more interesting.
Then, confidence makes us brave and courageous. If we lack confidence in ourselves, how can we overcome difficulties we meet with? If we have no confideuce in ourselves, how can we succeed in developing ourselves in the future?Without confidence, nothing can be accomplished. That is to say, if you want to win, you have to believe in yourself.
Finally, I would like to use the following words as our mutual encouragement:'If you think you can, you can.

At first, we were so confused about how to get out of the railway station, then we saw the big sign which showed us to take the metro. When we got to the subway station, a big picture was showed in front of us, we figured out our way quickly. When we were in the metro, we counted the time, we never thought it was so quickly, we just spent ten minutes to reach our destination, we found our hotel soon. What's more, it is very fast, unlike bus, which will turn around many roads, metro just goes the straight line.

Then the next day, we saw our training instructor. He was young and handsome, though his skin was so yellow. Suddenly, all the girls became energetic, we listened to the instructor's words carefully. In fact, I was staring at him. We trained for a week, we found the train was not that hard, we had fun and joy. At night, my training instructor asked us to sing the songs about military, we even compete with other teams. Some people think that books are the main source of himan knowledge, summaries of what people have acquired in their struggle with nature and society. Moreover, with the rapid development of modern society, book knowledge is updated from time to time. For these people, books are everything.
However, book knowledge is not everything! Books can never cover all the things and happenings in the world. Book knowledge is only a recording of what has been discovered. There are many mysteries unsolved and we can find no answers from books up to now. So if one does not try to learn something beyond books, it will be difficult for one to cope with some practical problems.
We should develop our ability through practice and observing the world. It is not practical to rely on books only.

Spring Festival is a wonderful time of the year to spend with one’s family. People who work and study far away from their homes come back. They tell each other about their work and life, exchange gifts and eat lots of delicious food with their family members.
Spring Festival is also a great time to visit one’s friends. During the holiday, many people go to see their friends and share their interesting stories or work experiences. Students love to go out with their former classmates and enjoy talking about their life. Many students also like to visit their teachers and wish them a happy new year.
However, there are times during the Spring Festival when it’s nice just to be by yourself. You can read novels that you never seem to have time to read at school. Y ou can watch your favorite TV programs at home. Y ou can have a quiet walk in your neighborhood or in a park nearby and think about your busy life. Spring Festival is an enjoyable time for everyone.
III (For reference only)
A proverb says, “Time is money.” But in my opinion, time is even more precious than money because when money is spent, we can earn it back; but when time is gone, it will never return.
Thus we must value time.
Time passes very quickly. Some students say they do not have enough time for all their lessons. Actually they do not know how to make use of their time. They spend their precious time smoking, drinking, chatting, playing games and doing other useless things. They don’t realize that wasting time is equal to wasting a part of their valuable life.
Today we are living in the twenty-first century. We know that time is life. When a person dies, his time has ended. Since life is short, we should devote our time and energy to our studies so that we will be able to serve our country and society. We should form the habit of saving time. We shouldn ’t put off what can be done today till tomorrow. Laziness will not only bring us failure but also lead us to the road of poverty.
