In the weddings I have attended, there have been a few Western elements, like white gowns and wedding vows, but overall, I would characterize the weddings as very much Chinese in both form and style. It is a mix of tradition, spectacle, prestige, showing off, and romance all in one.

Right off the bat, It’s definitely advantageous to go on vacation during the non-peak season because the costs for plane tickets, accommodations, and tour packages are less expensive. Another downside is that the local businesses might not be operating due to a lot fewer vacationers. I think the speech was good because it involved everyone, shared funny (but not too private) stories that were relevant to the leaver, and the effort our boss had put into preparing it showed his respect and admiration for the colleague who was departing.
