在谈到轮子的时候，人们一般都会产生一种往前发展的概念。但是，轮子在转动的时候也有就地踏步，不往前移动的现象。这可能吗?完全可能。你有没有看到过，一辆在泥浆地里，或是陷入很深的沙地的汽车。发生这种情况的时候，不管司机坐在车里怎么使尽全力发动机器，踩油门，但是车轮只是在泥浆里或沙堆里空转，寸步不动。这种现象最能说明那种花了精力，而又毫无进展的局面。我们今天要讲的'第一个俗语就和这种情况有关，那就是：spinning one's wheels。
