years ,for ,as you know ,the NBA court is really an amazing place where miracles happen frequently.Especially when there is a buzzer beater taking place at the end of zhe game ,it’s absolutely the most excting point in the game. Do you

No one may have never heared something about Kobe ,lenbron James ,jaordan, but I believe not everyone know the origin of basketball.
Dr.James Naismith, a Canadian who was teaching at Springfield College in Massachusetts needed to come up with a game to entertain the school’s rugby and football players during the winter months.
So he grabbed a peach basket he found in the janitor’s closet of the school and hung it on a railing about ten feet from the floor.
Every time the players made a shot though, they had to take down the basket and grab the ball, which became really annoying. Dr.Naismith decided to cut a hole in the basket so the ball would go straight through without having to dig it out all the time
The sport was an instant success and the popularity of this new game quickly grew. Althoough Nasimith never saw the game develop into the spectacular game we know these days, he had the honor to witness basketball become an Olympic sport at the 1936 Games held in Berlin.
A group of team owners met on June 6, 1946, in New York to talk about a league they would name the Basketball Association of America. This meeting was the beginning of what we know today as the NBA.

我今天课前演讲的主题是：《骆驼祥子》。
世间有一物，它可以令你如黑夜的蛾，不断挥舞着翅膀扑向光明，妄图撕碎黑暗，那就是追求。祥子的追求是平凡而又幸福的生活，但这对于他的车来说太沉重，沉重到已无力带他冲出黑暗。
祥子的失败、堕落或许是必然的，在当时社会，人们的心都是冷漠而麻木，如寒霜;而祥子那日月用汗水支撑燃烧的烛焰却无法将那冰冷融化半分，跳动的火花仅温暖了祥子的心，却也让他忘了生活的残酷。三次跌落人生谷底皆是如此。第一次辛苦攒钱买车，却又因拉了不该拉的客被抓到军营当苦工，当他牵着3匹骆驼出逃再次回到城市――这片他为了追求而挥洒汗水的土地时，他眼底的希望又迅速燃起。第二次，祥子辛苦攒的钱被敲诈了，雪夜里，他寒冷又无助，却还是为了始终诱惑着他的美好生活站了起来。最后，他为了虎妞，这个他厌恶，却又是在这个城市唯一给过他一个可依靠的家的女人，他卖了车将其葬了。但心爱的小福子在生活的折磨下也未能等到他，自尽了。这一次他心中那燃烧的烛焰终于快熄了，只剩下苟延残喘的零星火花等待最后一滴烛泪划落。
失去了追求，祥子只能在黑暗中四处乱撞，撞得堕落、颓废。反正心中的光明熄了，又有谁看得到呢?或许可以将一切怪罪于祥子自身，怪他没有多付出一点汗水，怪他为何自甘堕落。但在那个污浊的是非之地，拥有过追求并为之奋斗已是时代的幸运。或许可以将一切怪罪于社会，怪罪社会的种种不公。在那个时代里，所谓幸福，便是拥有一个平凡、安稳的生活，祥子所追求的也是如此。只可惜，祥子如此简单的愿望，社会也无法满足。一个人，失去了幸福，还有什么希望可言呢?
所以，感谢这个时代，以“平凡的幸福”为基础，造就了我们的生活。使我们不会如走向末路的祥子一般迷茫又绝望。
众所周知，语文教学主要是培养学生们的听、说、读、写能力。但在实际教学中，教师们又往往只注重听 、读、写能力的培养，而忽视了说的能力的训练。目前不论是中学毕业生，还是大中专毕业生，甚至包括少数 硕士研究生，在面临双向选择的挑战下，有相当一部分人不能准确，完整地表达自己的意思，还有少数人是胆 小，不敢说。总之，在目前的人才走向市场的形势下，“说”这种能力，应被提到议事日程上来。
我在语文课讲授的过程中，也时时感觉到学生们在说的能力方面的欠缺。比如课堂提问，很少有同学能主 动发言，即使发言，不是不敢大声讲出来，就是表达的不准确，实在令人头疼。课下询问其原因，不是不会， 主要是胆小，另外是怕出风头，惹人耻笑，宁肯不回答，也不让自己当众出丑。这种情况在同学中普遍存在。 我对此也曾经尝试用其他方法改变过，但都无济于事。去年我在班上开展了课前五分钟演讲，时至今日，已一 年有余，取得了良好的效果。
课前五分钟演讲，是指在教师讲课之前，先抽出五分钟时间，让五个同学依次登上讲台，要求他们态度大 方，表情自然，用洪亮的声音，完整、清楚地给同学们讲一个内容，时间是每人一分钟，内容范围不限制，当 然要健康，达到这个要求的算合格。但这个活动开始的时候，效果并不好，除了班干部之外，班上很少有同学 能达到上述要求的。大部分同学要么羞羞答答、满脸通红，局促不安地站在讲台上无话可说，要么语无伦次、前言不搭后语、声音象蜜峰嗡嗡般咕哝两句。但是，教师和同学们并不就此恢心丧气，教师除了鼓劲，并加以 启发、诱导，学生下决心，同心协力，决心把此项活动搞好，于是就有了以后的第二次、第三次，一次比 一次理想，不但达到了预期的目的，而且还收到了意外的效果。学期结束时，我们在班上作了调查，调查结果 表明，同学们对此项活动很感兴趣，而且希望这个活动继续搞下去。作为他们的任课教师，感到很欣慰，想把 此项活动推广开来，因此，我想就此谈谈我班开展课前五分钟演讲的好处。
其一，锻炼了学生们的胆量和口头表达能力，增强了他们的自信心和勇气。课前五分钟演讲一开始，大部分同学都很感兴趣，只是太缺乏信心，抱着试试看的态度，也有一部分同学 对此活动不理解，认为纯粹是走形式，消磨时间，持不大情愿的态度。但经过教师的循循善诱，一再启发和鼓 励，阐明其意义和作用，同学们对此项活动有了新的认识，认为这是自身锻炼的一个很好的机会，我也抓住了 这个机会，首先采取了启发、诱导学生兴趣的方法，来调动他们的积极性。第一次课前五分钟演讲之前，我先 出了几道智力思考题：“4的平方在什么情况下等于8?”(在错误的情况下);“汽车在向左转弯时哪个轮 胎不转?”(备用轮胎不转);“一个人能吃两个馒头，那么半个人能吃几个馒头?”(没有半个人);“贝 贝的妈妈说贝贝不是她亲生的儿子，那么贝贝和她的妈妈是什么关系?”(母女关系)“哪个月有28天?” (每个月都有28天)等等，要求同学们在我提出问题后马上回答，不容半分思考，这样一来，调动起了同学 们的积极性，我提出的问题，除了“哪个月有28天”回答错外其他全正确，同学们到此时兴趣就上来了，我 顺势找一两个人登台即兴演讲，效果很好，以后的课前五分钟我不时地启发、引导。比如有时我让同学们和名 人比口才，如我向同学们提出这样一个问题：“有一个富商去见大作家肖伯纳，见面后富翁第一句话就说：‘ 一见你这样瘦，就知道世界上正在闹饥荒。’假若你是肖伯纳，该怎样反驳?”问题提出后，同学们争相举手 ，回答的结果也很正确。肖伯纳这样反驳富翁：“我一看见你这样胖，就知道世界上闹饥荒的根源了。”再如 ，我给他们讲了这样一个故事：古希腊大哲学家苏格拉底，性情温顺，为人和善，可他的妻子却十分暴躁，动 不动就发火。有一次他的妻子要他去做一件事，结果苏格拉底忘记了，便去给学生上课，正当他讲到高兴之处 ，他的妻子怒气冲冲走进教室，大发雷霆，顺势将一盆洗脸水泼了过去，将苏格拦底洗成了落汤鸡。我讲到此 ，便嗄然而止，接着提问：“此时苏格拉底会说些什么呢?”同学们顿时来了兴致，纷纷猜测，有很离谱的， 有比较接近的。总之，同学们的情绪非常高涨，苏格拉底抖了抖身上的水，慢条斯理地说：“刚才给你们讲过 ，电闪雷鸣之后，必然会有一场倾盆大雨。”同学们在笑声中领会到语言幽默的妙处，也使苏格拉底摆脱了困 境。有时给同学们出个论题，让他们对此论题进行辩论，如“金华五里亭有两位老人，以拾破烂为生，二十多 年来，他们把一个个被遗弃的女婴抱回来抚养”同学们对此论题可以说是各抒已见，百家争鸣，有时则是让他 们讨论一句名言，如“对于没有说出的话，你是主人;而对于已说出的话，你是仆人，—一尼采”;有时则让 他们抽一张卡片等等。经过我的启发、引导，同学们的思路开阔了，信心增强了，都想当众施展自己的才华。 一学期下来，全班同学大部分能仪表大方，态度自然地站在讲台上，用清晰、洪亮的声音，完整、准确地表达 自己的见解、感受，畅所欲言，尽情发挥。有一个班级为此还专门组织了一次“讲、说”比赛，班上参赛的人 过半，‘而且全用普通话，不论是内容还是形式，都令教师感到高兴，且得到了系学生会的承认和赞许，而且 同学们的信心加强了，都自信自已将来能成为演说家。从此以后，课堂提问时，不再出现以前的冷场现象，而 是争先恐后地举手，急欲回答问题。
其二，提高了同学们观察问题、分析问题的能力，开阔了眼界，扩大了知识面，丰富了学生们的业余生活 。
常言道：“处处留心皆学问。”“悟性就在你的脚下。”同学们为了能搜集到有意义的题材，在同学们面 前露一手，随时随地就能触发他们的感官，因此，在演讲中也不时爆出光点。他们能从寻常小事中发现哲理。 下面仅举几例加以说明。他们从树根和树枝的关系，联想到不论干什么事都要有良好的根基。从叶和花的关系 联想到了以下几点：红花要用绿叶衬托;有人默默无闻(绿叶);风雨过后事情的本质才能显露出来。拍球的 启示：逆境使人奋进，没有压力轻飘飘;“气”足才能飞跃，要争“气”，鼓足奋争的勇气、志气。叫壶和高 压锅的联想“为人要踏实，少说多做;不要居功自傲。上坡与下坡联想到不要知难而退;要警惕思想上的滑坡 ;成功与失败，欢乐与痛苦是互相矛盾、互相依存的;顺境时思忧，逆境时思进等不一而足。他们不但善于从平常小事中发现哲理，而且谈风土人情、谈社会、谈理想、谈志趣、讲故事、说笑话、以及地名、成语故事的 来源等等。这不但锻炼了他们观察问题和思考问题的能力，而且从不同程度上扩大了他们的知识面。另外，也 丰富了一些同学的业余生活，在活动举行以前，有一部分同学在荼余饭后以及课外活动期间，常常感到百无聊 赖，无事可做，而活动开展以来，他们的视野开阔了，认为有做不完的事在等着他们。他们打心眼里喜欢上了 课前五分钟。
其三，沟通了教师与学生、学生与学生的心。
正如一位同学所说：“课前五分钟演讲是心灵之桥。”名字的确起得不错，事实也确实如此。它首先沟通 了教师和学生的心灵，教师哪些地方讲得不清楚，在方法上有什么不妥的地方，学生可在课前五分钟演讲中提 出来，教师加以改正，使教师的教学方法逐步得到完善。与此同时，也沟通了同学的心。因为同学们来自祖国 各地，彼此之间很陌生，通过课前五分钟这座桥，同学们互吐心声，谈了自己的志趣、爱好以及对人生、对社 会、对友谊的看法，还有对班委工作的建议等等。这些话题都是同学们非常关心的话题，因此产生了共鸣，使 原来感到陌生的同学得到了互相了解的机会，增进了友谊，活跃了班级气氛，促进了班委工作的更好开展。正 如同学们所说：“假如课前想睡觉或情绪不佳，但经不住‘五分钟’的热烈气氛的诱导，好似注了一针兴奋剂 ，情绪马上振奋起来，认认真真地上完每一节课。”还有如是说：“课前五分钟，对我们的影响很大，好象一 缕清新的风，吹散了我们脸上的愁容，吹出了一张张的笑脸。”另外还增进了学生和学校的联系，有的同学在 五分钟演讲中提到想看晚间新闻，询问同学，同学们都有此愿望，于是班委和学校联系，学生会满足了他们的 要求。同学们通过这个窗口，了解了中国及世界的形势，更激发了上进的勇气和信心。
事实证明，同学们对课前五分钟演讲很有兴趣，并且希望这个活动搞下去，使他们在做学生期间，有一个 自身锻炼的好机会。

翻开昨日的历史，俯瞰江山，多少仁人志士为了祖国的统一，祖国的兴旺，民族的富强而抛头颅，洒热血，不向残暴低头，不向恶魔弯腰。又有多少优秀的中国儿女，在祖国遭遇外强肆意践踏之时挺身而出，用自己的血肉之躯，与侵略者进行不屈不挠，不卑不亢的斗争。赵一曼，邓世昌…无数先烈，血沃中华大地。他们心中都有强烈的民族责任感，怀着同样炽热的爱国之心!梁启超老先生的《少年中国说》中曾写道：“少年智则国智，少年富则国富，少年独立则国独立，少年自由则国自由，少年进度则国进步，少年胜于欧洲，则国胜于欧洲，少年雄于地球，则国雄于地球”因此“祖国雄起”“祖国强”等口号并不是随随便便喊几句，我们应该拿出行动，给蔑视中国的外国人一个有力的回击!让他们明白，中国知识一头沉睡的雄狮，有一日，它必定会醒来，吼叫，咆哮!祖国，亲爱的母亲，听，你的孩子在申请的呼唤着你。让我们一起努力，用我们的智慧和汗水，把祖国的景秀山河装点地更加炫丽，让灿烂的历史再铸新的辉煌!

With the development of technology, more and more people are fond of using Internet. It is particularly popular among young people. Just like the coin has two sides, internet also has its own advantages and disadvantages.
First of all, the Internet has brought people great convenience in getting information, entertainment and contact with each other. As for our students, it is a useful tool when we meet problems. When we are tired, a piece of light music will help us relax. If we have free time, we can enjoy movies or interesting cartoons. What’s more, we can also watch live programs on the internet or see it later if we are not available at that time.
But there is also bad influence. Some of the young teenagers are addicted to computer games, and some even play games all night. Because of lacking in sleep, those students can not focus on in the class . As a result, they may fail in the exam. When they realize it is wrong to spend too much time playing games, it’s already too late.
I have remembered such a piece of news . An excellent student flunked (考试不及格) because he could not concentrate on his study for being too indulged in computer games. He spent nearly all the money on games, which was earned by his father's selling blood. When his father knelt down to beg him to return to school, he was too numb to show any regret.
The most serious harm of computer games come from their contents, which affects teenagers ' mental health. Many games involve violence, such as fighting and killing. When they enjoy the pleasure of success, a violent turn of mind is developed and rooted in them, which may induce future violent behaviour in their life.
So when computers' entertaining function is highly spoken of ,such a problem does deserve our serious concern.
In addition, long time's working before computer also does harm to health. The radiation from the computer can arose many uncomfortable feelings., like a headache, poor eyesight.
At last, people who are fond of making friends on line should also be careful. Many convicts use Internet as a way to cheat. Although it has many disadvantages , Internet has become an indispensable part of people's life in recent years. In my point of view, it’s wrong to blame Internet itself, it’s all depend on the way we use it. If we use it in a right way, it can be one of the best friends in our life.

A friend of mine named Paul received an automobile from his brother as a Christmas present. On Christmas Eve when Paul came out of his office, a street urchin was walking around the shiny new car, admiring it.
“Is this your car, Mister?” he said.
Paul nodded. “My brother gave it to me for Christmas.” The boy was astounded. “You mean your brother gave it to you and it didn’t cost you nothing? Boy, I wish . . .” He hesitated.
Of course Paul knew what he was going to wish for. He was going to wish he had a brother like that. But what the lad said jarred Paul all the way down to his heels.
“I wish,” the boy went on, “That I could be a brother like that.”
Paul looked at the boy in astonishment, then impulsively he added, “Would you like to take a ride in my car?”
“Oh yes, Id love that.”
After a short ride, the boy turned with his eyes aglow, said, “Mister, would you mind driving in front of my house?”
Paul smiled a little. He thought he knew what the lad wanted. He wanted to show his neighbors that he could ride home in a big automobile. But Paul was wrong again. “Will you stop where those two steps are?” the boy asked.
He ran up the steps. Then in a little while Paul heard him coming back, but he was not coming fast. He was carrying his little crippled brother. He sat him down on the bottom step, then sort of squeezed up against him and pointed to the car.
“There she is, Buddy, just like I told you upstairs. His brother gave it to him for Christmas and it didn’t cost him a cent. And some day Im gonna give you one just like it . . . then you can see for yourself all the pretty things in the Christmas windows that Ive been trying to tell you about.” Paul got out and lifted the lad to the front seat of his car. The shining-eyed older brother climbed in beside him and the three of them began a memorable holiday ride. That Christmas Eve, Paul learned
what Jesus meant when he said: “It is more blessed to give . . . ”

First thing first, I gotta say,wow,it's funny thing to be given a chance like that.Trurh be told,I really got a little bit nervous before I stand right here ,so called 'stage fright'.If you look specifically on me .You may find my hands shaking,pretty assembles the guy who suffered from Pakinson's disease,and legs wobbling ,like I caught so-called ball leg. Okay,let's stop going around the bush and get back to my topic today.I really like to talk a funny story I have just heard.A lady called Lucy emigrated to United States several years ago.Her spoken English is not that fluent .And one day,she is just sitting on the couch with his U.S friends Mandy watching Sit-Com.A noise of bump had the attention of Mandy,which led her to go out of the house trying to figure out what had happened.Can you imagine that Mandy go straight out with merely a sweater.So Lucy shouted at her,“Lucy ,turn your clothes on.” What suprised her most,beyond her wildest imagination, is that almost all the male in this country took their head out of the window.Admittedly,Lucy made a mistake here .The word spitted means Mandy is totally naked to the reason that male looked out of the window.The right sentence shall be,“put your clothing on.”The story inspires you to take a careful look on the vast difference between eastern and western culture. 20xx xian world horticultural exposition has opened on April 28, this is the Beijing Olympic Games and Shanghai world expo after another international event in our country. The park with the “nature changan. Creative natural __ city and nature harmonious coexistence” as the theme, reflects the Chinese traditional culture of the spirit of “harmony between man and nature”.
The park has four major landmarks, they respectively are changan tower. Wide door. Natural pavilion and creative pavilion.
First, let's take a look at changan tower, it is located in xi 'an, the commanding heights of the circle will be 99 meters high, a total of 13 floors, is for the use of the view. as we know, you have to learn how to fly much more independently instead of under your parents’ considerate protection when you get into college, which also means you will come across enormous questions that should be solved by yourself. from my point of view, those main problems can fall into three parts.
first of all, the complicated relationship. for one thing, you have to know how cultural differences function in your relationship and respect them. in addition, college students spend less time studying together owing to different courses’ choosing, which requires us to devote more energy to building relationship. for the other thing, it is also vital to communicate with your parents often by using mobile phones or other tools.
secondly, the temptations. the college serves us a more relaxed environment mixed with other temptations such as the internet, alcohols and so on. what’s more, the college teachers won’t compel you to study like before, you doze off or play cell phone in class, and you flee up the morning class because you get up too late. such too frequent behaviors will cripple your passion and enthusiasm towards life, so it is essential for us to resist these temptations and insist pursuing our own goals.
thirdly, the balance between study and work. most of us will choose to take a part time job to earn the extra money or just to exercise ourselves. but it is significant to keep a relatively balanced relationship between them since i always regard the study as our main task, so my principle is adjusting work to follow the schedule of study.
in conclusion, whatever issues we meet or miseries we suffer from, confront the hash reality head on, what we can do is remembering the past, living in the present and looking forward to the future.
Someone said “we are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book, whose pages are infinite”. I dont know who wrote these words, but Ive always liked them as a reminder that the future can be anything we want it to be. We are all in the position of the farmers. If we plant a good seed ,we reap a good harvest. If we plant nothing at all, we harvest nothing at all.
We are young. “How to spend the youth?” It is a meaningful question. To answer it, first I have to ask “what do you understand by the word youth?” Youth is not a time of life, its a state of mind. Its not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips or supple knees. Its the matter of the will. Its the freshness of the deep spring of life.
Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite , for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 . Nobody grows old merely by a number of years .
We grow old by deserting our ideals. Years wrinkle the skin , but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul . Worry , fear , self –distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust .
people are like tea bags—you have to put them in hot water before you know how strong they are.“ i can still remember the words that dad said to me years ago.
when i was young, i used to be very naughty. life then was like a glaball ,shining with bright colours. i had once gone down to the river bank, catching a great many worms and was afterwards punished by mum. i had ever cut the pillow towel into pieces in order to make clothes for my dolls. similarly, i was then blamed seriously. once i even put the hot iron on the floor which immediately burnt a big hole on the carpet. although i had done so many annoying things, my childhood seemed to be rather colourful. however, i had never had a clear definition about myself. but then something happened. it had made a great difference to my life and made who i am now.
i had always been afraid of having the intravenous drop in hospital. the first time i was taken to have the drop, i cried for almost half an hour and finally gave off at fathers severe scolding. watching the cold needle stabbing into my skin, i cried even more loudly. at that time, i never dared to take a glance at my hand and always needed my mother to stay with me at my side. even if mum had told me many times,” honey, there’s nothing to be scared of. just close your eyes and sleep.“ i would still keep my eyes wide open, watching the liquid flow through the bottle and never slept.
nevertheless, things just happened in a casual way. when i caught a high fever again when young, mum had to send for the doctor home to treat me. i was so sick that i became quite drowsy and then slept. when i suddenly woke up in the afternoon, i found the liquid in the bottle had already flown over ,while mum and dad were not around. i yelled, but finally found it was of no use. so i jumped out of the bed and pulled up the tubule. in the nature of things, the blood came out and dropped along the way i went downstairs. things became different at the time i went down alone. i discovered that i could be independent. i was much stronger than i had thought. looking back on the girl who cried all day, i came to understand suddenly that the strong part of the inner myself had been existing all the time. seeing the anxious mum, i revealed a big smile to her. i could see that mum was trying to hold her tears back and scrubbed my blood on the hand. she didnt know that her little girl had stealthily grown up.
since then, i became stronger. as you see now, standing in front of you is a confident and sunny girl. in my grown-up life, ive never cried for being injured no matter how serious it is. i can even go to the hospital alone when mum and dad are on business. i came acroso many difficulties in life, while ive never thought of giving up. thanks to that extraordinary experience at my age of ten, i discovered a person inside myself who has been so important and unique to me. just like what dad had told me before, ”people are like tea bags—you have to put them in hot water before you know how strong they are.“
the first time i saw bao was in , the year when thomas and uber cup was held. at that time he was playing against li zongwei, who is also a good player from malaysia. bao beat him. to tell the truth, at first the reason why i liked him was just because i thought he was pretty.*(maybe it is not a suitable word, but i think no better word can describe him, he is really pretty!) from that time, i have focused on him. then gradually, i found that he not only has good appearance, but also has a talent for badminton.
he is very tall, about 1.90 meters. he is the tallest one among all the players in the chinese badminton team. in , he is chosen as the flag holder stands for china in the opening ceremony in the 15th asian games held in doha. it was the first time that the badminton players were chosen to take over the special task, before which time, it belonged to the basketball players. it was a great honor. and it also proved that bao was an excellent athlete. we are all proud of him.
he began to play badminton when he was at primary school. in , he won his first good medal, which was significant to him, in guangzhou. because of that, he entered the chinese badminton team. as he is as old as lin dan, who is the top one in the world, he is always put into a situation wh(。)ich is not good to him. he seldom beats lin dan, so he gained a name which is called’千年老二’. in fact, his techniques are comprehensive, but he is lack of passion, the desire to win is not so strong. so he always has misplays. due to this, he seldom wins the gold medal. i think this is related to his character. he is easygoing and couth; he looks as if he will never get angry with anybody. so this affects him while he is playing badminton. in a period of time, critical voice has come towards him. he is under great pressure. he was not in the best state. but recently he cheers up again. several days ago, the chinese badminton championship was held in guangzhou. i went to see him on saturday. i was very excited, and i shouted loudly, hoping he could hear me. there is no doubt that he won the game. before he went away, he waved hand to us, how excited i was at that time! the next day, he beat li zongwei again and he won the man’s single gold medal. all of us are very happy. after 7 years, which could be a long time for an athlete, he proved himself again in guangzhou, which is considered as his lucky place.
i think this will be the energy of his advancing. and i hope he can keep this fighting will and win the gold medal in the 29th olympic games held in beijing!

we have heard time and time again that the evidence reflects the payment to defendants money. the president had knowledge that these funds were being paid and these were funds collected for the 1972 presidential campaign. we know that the president met with mr. henry petersen 27 times to discuss matters related to watergate, and immediately thereafter met with the very persons who were implicated in the information mr. petersen was receiving. the words are: ”if the president is connected in any suspicious manner with any person and there be grounds to believe that he will shelter that person, he may be impeached.“
justice story: ”impeachment“ is attended -- ”is intended for occasional and extraordinary cases where a superior power acting for the whole people is put into operation to protect their rights and rescue their liberties from violations.“ we know about the huston plan. we know about the break-in of the psychiatrist's office. we know that there was absolute complete direction on september 3rd when the president indicated that a surreptitious entry had been made in dr. fielding's office, after having met with mr. ehrlichman and mr. young. ”protect their rights.“ ”rescue their liberties from violation.“
the carolina ratification convention impeachment criteria: those are impeachable ”who behave amiss or betray their public trust.“4 beginning shortly after the watergate break-in and continuing to the present time, the president has engaged in a series of public statements and actions designed to thwart the lawful investigation by government prosecutors. moreover, the president has made public announcements and assertions bearing on the watergate case, which the evidence will show he knew to be false. these assertions, false assertions, impeachable, those who misbehave. those who ”behave amiss or betray the public trust.“
james madison again at the constitutional convention: ”a president is impeachable if he attempts to subvert the constitution.“ the constitution charges the president with the task of taking care that the laws be faithfully executed, and yet the president has counseled his aides to commit perjury, willfully disregard the secrecy of grand jury proceedings, conceal surreptitious entry, attempt to compromise a federal judge, while publicly displaying his cooperation with the processes of criminal justice. ”a president is impeachable if he attempts to subvert the constitution."
if the impeachment provision in the constitution of the united states will not reach the offenses charged here, then perhaps that 18th-century constitution should be abandoned to a 20th-century paper shredder.
has the president committed offenses, and planned, and directed, and acquiesced in a course of conduct which the constitution will not tolerate? that's the question. we know that. we know the question. we should now forthwith proceed to answer the question. it is reason, and not passion, which must guide our deliberations, guide our debate, and guide our decision.

it’s noticable that western holidays are becoming increasingly popular day by day, while chinese traditional festivals are being somewhat neglected. not long before about 10 doctors in beijing university and qinghua unversity announced that we should reject the invasion of western holidays ,because they regard western holidays as an challenge against our traditional festivals and culture.
frankly speaking, i don’t quite agree with them.indeed, we should never neglect or even discard our traditonal festivals as china boasts a brilliant history and splendid traditions.
(examples).but why can’t we absorb the meaningful western holidays and culture.
there are obvious reasons why some western holidays are so popular in china. on the one hand, some of the western holidays which we chinese don’t have are reasonable and meaningful, such as father’s day and april fool’s day etc. on the other hand,the prevalence of globalization enables western culture to prevail in china. overwhelmed by such a trend,chinese unconsiciously get involved in western holidays and culture.
with the further development of the whole world, the cultural communication between different countries and nations becomes faster and more and more important. we are indeed from different nations, but we are the citizens of the same world, so the outstanding culture of different nations is the commom wealth of everyone on the earth.the only way for us to protect our traditional culture is to reject the foreign culture? the answer is definitely no. what we ought to do is to spare no effort to educate chinese to get to know and treasure our splendid traditions instead of rejecting foreign culture. only by educating can we set our confidence and belief towards our culture.
