Austins “pride and prejudice”, as she puts it, is thin on two inches ofivory carving, it is the masterpiece of Austin。 Reflect the marriage problems ofnovel is a, the author works in the most is her favorite works。

Works of vivid reflects the late 18th century to the early 19th century ina conservative and occlusion of the British town life and the world。 Its socialgraffiti like novels not only attract the readers at that time, solid to today, still give the reader a unique artistic enjoyment。 She was the first torealistically portray ordinary grace novelist in daily ordinary life, plays anessential role in English novel。

The whole works, not least no winding ups and downs of the plot, but it isthis simple, delicate and attracted us deeply。 Austin, short life is spent inthe country, almost all around may be simple, halcyon atmosphere nurtured hercool temperament。 Not because there is no abundant experience, for the analysisof things for her ability to doubt。

People read the book pride and prejudice “will be fine for her, keenemotion。 When writing ”pride and prejudice“, she is just a teenage girl, isntthis a gift? She does very little contact with the outside world, but thought, imagination, the existence of all this is enough。

Pride and Prejudice is my favorite novel, which impresses me for a longtime。 It describes a love story mainly between Elisabeth, who I like the best, and a rich and proud man, Darcy。

The story began with the arrival of a crowd of rich men who rent a housenear the Bennet。 In a ball, Elisabeth gave such a bad impression on Darcy’sfirst pride that she refused Darcy’s first proposal。 Darcy was so surprised byElisabeth’s refusal that he loved Elisabeth more deeply。 And Elisabeth’santipathy made Darcy realize his shortings。 He was not angry about Elisabeth’scensure, but also he changed his previous proud attitude。 During Elisabeth’stravel in Darcy’s manor。 Darcy was very nice to her uncle and aunt, differentfrom previous proud attitude。 When one of Elisabeth’s sisters ran away withWickham, Darcy helped Elisabeth find her sister and prevent her sister from theloss of reputation, with nobody knowing that it was he who helped the Bennet。 Somany changes in Darcy eliminated Elisabeth’s prejudice。 At last it end withtheir marriage。

Taking the daily life as its material, this story reflected the life andlove in a conservative and blocking England town。 It reflected the author’s viewabout marriage that it is fault to marry for property, money and status and itis also foolish to take these elements into account。 In fact Darcy’s pridemanifested the gap between their statuses。 Since his pride existed, there is noideal marriage between Elisabeth and Darcy。 From the different attitudes fromDarcy’s two proposals, it reflected the feminine pursuit of personalityindependence and right equality, which is a progressive character from the imageof Elisabeth。

sense and sensibility was the first jane austen published. though she initially called it elinor and marianne, austen jettisoned both the title and the epistolary mode in which it was originally written, but kept the essential theme: the necessity of finding a workable middle ground between passion and reason. the story revolves around the dashwood sisters, elinor and marianne. whereas the former is a sensible, rational creature, her younger sister is wildly romantic——a characteristic that offers austen plenty of scope for both satire and compassion. commenting on edward ferrars, a potential suitor for elinor's hand, marianne admits that while she ”loves him tenderly,“ she finds him disappointing as a possible lover for her sister.

soon however, marianne meets a man who measures up to her ideal: mr. willoughby, a new neighbor. so swept away by passion is marianne that her behavior begins to border on the scandalous. then willoughby abandons her; meanwhile, elinor's growing affection for edward suffers a check when he admits he is secretly engaged to a childhood sweetheart. how each of the sisters reacts to their romantic misfortunes, and the lessons they draw before coming finally to the requisite happy ending forms the heart of the novel. though marianne's disregard for social conventions and willingneto consider the world well-lost for love may appeal to modern readers, it is elinor whom austen herself most evidently admired; a truly happy marriage, she shows us, exists only where sense and sensibility meet and mix in proper measure.

movie: mission impossible iii while summer isn't officially here, it is here in terms of movies. mission impossible 3 kicks off the summer movie season with a bang with an interesting and entertaining installment in the money-ma-ki-ng franchise. tom cruise reprises his ethan hunt role and j.j. abrams takes the director's chair. what makes the mission impossible franchise so interesting is the constant change of directors. if you look at other franchises like lethal weapon, pink panther, indiana jones, etc, the directors usually stay on board for the sequels. even with the james bond franchise you have directors usually doing several bond films in a row. mission impossible was helmed by brian de palma and was all espionage with light action. action maestro john woo took the second one and made an explosive and entertaining action sequel even if it was a little over cooked. j.j. abrams makes his feature film directorial debut with mission impossible 3, which is a little bit of espionage and a little bit of action. for those who don't know abrams, he started out writing films like armageddon and regarding henry. he then broke into the television scene with alias, a pretty popular show. he became very well known recently for his latest show. abrams is the creator of lost, one of my favorite shows. so, i was excited to see his first movie. m:i-3 has ethan hunt trying to settle down and start a normal life, but he is thrown back into his old job when an arms dealer played by phillip seymour hoffman wants him to track down the rabbit's foot. the rabbit's foot is some kind of weapon of madestruction, and if hunt doesn't retrieve it in 48 hours his fiance will be killed. what follows are explosive action sequences that sing the right tune to satisfy all of our action appetites. the movie is good, but i couldn't help feeling like something was lacking. i tried to pinpoint it, and the only thing that i could come up with was that it lacked style. sure it had lost written all over it. the tight close ups, starting the film by showing the ending and then rewinding back to the beginning, getting michael giacchino to compose an almost identical score to lost, even re-creating a scene from lost at the end, but still the movie didn't feel like it had an overall style. the reason why i liked m:i-2 was that it had john woo style. the slow motion build up, the doves, and of course hans zimmer's amazing music. i'm just saying that mission impossible 3 is good, but it's not a definative action movie that stands out from the rest, let's see how abrams develops his techniques with future projects now that he's broken into the movie scene

I’ve read a book called Pride and Prejudice written by Jane Austen during this winter holidays. Jane Austen was unmarried all her life. She was born in a mid-class family and was brought up in a comfortable environment with harmonious surroundings, so there’s not too many conflicts in her sight neither in her novel. In Pride and Prejudice she talked different ideas about love and marriage through different characters.

The novel has told an interesting story: Mr. Bennet is an English gentleman with an estate in Hertfordshire. He has five unmarried daughters but no sons while his inheritance must be inherited by a male, so Mrs. Bennet has been keen to seek husband for her daughters with great enthusiasm. One day the Bennets had a new neighbor called Bingley who was a wealthy bachelor and followed be the target of Mrs. Bennet. At a ball Bingley fell in love with Jane Bennet who’s the oldest daughter of the Bennets. Bingley’s friend Darcy also came to the ball and struck the sights, many girls liked him while he thought all of them couldn’t suit his preference, including Elizabeth. Mr. Darcy always shows others a impression of pride, having found this Elizabeth began to hate Mr. Darcy. Before long Darcy fell in love with Elizabeth Bennett(second oldest daughter in the Bennets) because of her lovely behavior, while Elizabeth is disgusted by his pride and has a prejudice about him. The official Wickham was welcomed by the villagers, and Elizabeth also took a shine to him. Wickham told Elizabeth that his father had been the steward of the Darcys. The old Darcy had regarded Wickham as his own son and showed more love to him than to Mr. Darcy. After the old Darcy died, the property should be inherited by Wickham was all deprived by Mr. Darcy, also was his pastorate. All this increased Eli’s prejudice about Mr. Darcy. At another ball Mr. Darcy invited Elizabeth to dance with him, but Eli refused him. Eli’s elder male cousin Mr. Collin came to Hertfordshire to inherit the Bennett's property by rules, he wanted to marry with one of the Bennets. Having known that Jane was already engaged with Mr. Bingley, he asked Elizabeth to marry him but was seriously rejected. At last he proposed to Charllote who was Eli’s friend. Mr. Collins was good at flattering and he got the pastorate with the help of Lady Catherine. Once his family was invited to Rosings Garden by Lady Catherine. Elizabeth also went there with Mr. Collin and Charllote. There she met Mr. Darcy who’s Lady Catherine’s nephew. Later in a garden, Sir William told Eli about Mr. Darcy’s latest act of dissuading Mr. Bingley’s marring Jane Bennet which caused Eli’s exceedingly anger. Then Mr. Darcy came to the Collins’ and confessed his love for Elizabeth, of course he was rejected impolitely. Afterwards Mr. Darcy wrote a letter to Eli in order to remove her misunderstandings of him. Elizabeth’s uncle and aunt were also impressed by Mr. Darcy’s politeness. Gradually Eli’s prejudice of Mr. Darcy diappeared. Eventually they became couple.

The writer Jane Austen disclosed mid-class young ladies’ different ideas of marriage and love through describing the different ways in which the Bennet girls doing with their marriage problems ,and this undoubtedly shows the writer’s idea about love and marriage: it’s wrong to get married just for property, wealth and status while neither would it be without caring about those elements.Jane Austen just attached great significance to marriage through her novel by telling people that marriage should be regarded carefully cause it is not a game you could just enjoy without prudent consideration. She also wanted to deliver information that marriage should be based on real love between the lovers. The female subject Elizabeth is a mid-class girl, and Darcy proposed to her regardless of the gap between them, but Elizabeth refused because of his pride had formed Eli’s prejudice. Cause Darcy’s pride was a suggest of status gap between he and Eli, he wouldn’t have the same thought with Eli and consequently the ideal marriage. But later Darcy’s doings especially his change of the prideful manner eliminated Eli’s misunderstandings and prejudice about him, and Eli accepted his proposal. Those two opposite attitudes reflect female’s pursue of independent personality and equality. I think Elizabeth has personality ethic which caused her independent idea about love and marriage and in consequence she earned a happy life. There’re also Eli’s sisters’ love stories served as contrasts to the female subject’s ideal marriage, such as Charlotte and Collin’s life: they do had a luxury life, but there’s no  real love between them and this kind of marriage is surely a tragedy of society.

Published in 1847, WUTHERING HEIGHTS was not well received by the reading public, many of whom condemned it as sordid, vulgar, and unnatural--and author Emily Bronte went to her grave in 1848 believing that her only novel was a failure. It was not until 1850, when WUTHERING HEIGHTS received a second printing with an introduction by Emily's sister Charlotte, that it attracted a wide readership. And from that point the reputation of the book has never looked back. Today it is widely recognized as one of the great novels of English literature.

Even so, WUTHERING HEIGHTS continues to divide readers. It is not a pretty love story; rather, it is swirling tale of largely unlikeable people caught up in obsessive love that turns to dark madness. It is cruel, violent, dark and brooding, and many people find it extremely unpleasant. And yet--it possesses a grandeur of language and design, a sense of tremendous pity and great loss that sets it apart from virtually every other novel written.

The novel is told in the form of an extended flashback. After a visit to his strange landlord, a newcomer to the area desires to know the history of the family--which he receives from Nelly Deans, a servant who introduces us to the Earnshaw family who once resided in the house known as Wuthering Heights. It was once a cheerful place, but Old Earnshaw adopted a ”Gipsy“ child who he named Heathcliff. And Catherine, daughter of the house, found in him the perfect companion: wild, rude, and as proud and cruel as she. But although Catherine loves him, even recognizes him as her soulmate, she cannot lower herself to marry so far below her social station. She instead marries another, and in so doing sets in motion an obsession that will destroy them all.

WUTHERING HEIGHTS is a bit difficult to ”get into;“ the opening chapters are so dark in their portrait of the end result of this obsessive love that they are somewhat off-putting. But they feed into the flow of the work in a remarkable way, setting the stage for one of the most remarkable structures in all of literature, a story that circles upon itself in a series of repetitions as it plays out across two generations. Catherine and Heathcliff are equally remarkable, both vicious and cruel, and yet never able to shed their impossible love no matter how brutally one may wound the other.

As the novel coils further into alcoholism, seduction, and one of the most elaborately imagined plans of revenge it gathers into a ghostly tone: Heathcliff, driven to madness by a woman who is not there but who seems reflected in every part of his world--dragging her corpse from the grave, hearing her calling to him from the moors, escalating his brutality not for the sake of brutality but so that her memory will never fade, so that she may never leave his mind until death itself. Yes, this is madness, insanity, and there is no peace this side of the grave or even beyond.

It is a stunning novel, frightening, inexorable, unsettling, filled with unbridled passion that makes one cringe. Even if you do not like it, you should read it at least once--and those who do like it will return to it again and again

Oliver twist, one of the most famous works of charles dickens’, is a novel reflecting the tragic fact of the life in britain in 18th century.

The author who himself was born in a poor family wrote this novel in his twenties with a view to reveal the ugly masks of those cruel criminals and to expose the horror and violence hidden underneath the narrow and dirty streets in london.

The hero of this novel was oliver twist, an orphan, who was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime. he suffered enormous pain, such as hunger, thirst, beating and abuse. while reading the tragic experiences of the little oliver, i was shocked by his sufferings. i felt for the poor boy, but at the same time i detested the evil fagin and the brutal bill. to my relief, as was written in all the best stories, the goodness eventually conquered devil and oliver lived a happy life in the end. one of the plots that attracted me most is that after the theft, little oliver was allowed to recover in the kind care of mrs. maylie and rose and began a new life. he went for walks with them, or rose read to him, and he worked hard at his lessons. he felt as if he had left behind forever the world of crime and hardship and poverty.

How can such a little boy who had already suffered oppressive affliction remain pure in body and mind? the reason is the nature of goodness. i think it is the most important information implied in the novel by dickens-he believed that goodness could conquer every difficulty. although i don’t think goodness is omnipotent, yet i do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded.

For me, the nature of goodness is one of the most necessary character for a person. goodness is to humans what water is to fish. he who is without goodness is an utterly worthless person. on the contrary, as the famous saying goes, ‘the fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose’, he who is with goodness undoubtedly is a happy and useful person. people receiving his help are grateful to him and he also gets gratified from what he has done, and thus he can do good to both the people he has helped and himself.

To my disappointment, nowadays some people seem to doubt the existence of the goodness in humanity. they look down on people’s honesty and kindness, thinking it foolish of people to be warm-hearted. as a result, they show no sympathy to those who are in trouble and seldom offer to help others. on the other hand, they attach importance to money and benefit. in their opinion, money is the only real object while emotions and morality are nihility. if they cannot get profit from showing their ‘kindness’, they draw back when others are faced with trouble and even hit a man when he is down. they are one of the sorts that i really detest.

Francis bacon said in his essay, ‘goodness, of all virtues and dignities of the mind, is the greatest, being the character of the deity, and without it, man is a busy, mischievous, wretched thing, no better than a kind of vermin.’

That is to say a person without goodness is destined to lose everything. therefore, i, a kind person, want to tell those ‘vermin-to-be’ to learn from the kind oliver and regain the nature of goodness.

I've just fininshed reading the first 4 harry potter books for about the 5th time through, and they're just as magical and affecting as they have ever been. everything is in here: suspense, adventure, mystery, humour, danger. there's even some pretty satisfying paybacks. the characters are fantastic and fantastically realistic. there are bad people who turn out to be good guys and good people who turn out to be bad guys, just like life.

I think the thing i like best about these books is the message that it's okay to be different - to be not ”normal." i would love for everyone in school to have hear that message. it would probably reduce the bullying around the school.

These books value real thoughts. much has been made of harry's rule breaking, but only once in the series so far does he break a rule for arbitrary personal gain. most of the time he makes a decision that what's right is more important than what's written. and you know what? life's like that sometimes. i think it's great that kids are getting an example of how to do what's right even when it involves breaking rules. the potter books also show that there are consequences for rule breaking. if not getting caught and getting a detention, then a spell going wrong and someone getting turned into a cat. this shows that when you make a decision to go against the rules that things may not go as you expected and you have to take responsibility for the outcome.
