(三)优秀的少儿英语教师要有很强的英语语言能力
1、知识：语音、词汇、句型、篇章、文化意识。
2、技能：听、说、读、写、译。
全英文授课不是要把孩子弄的云里雾里就好，也不是这个老师的`英语说得有多快、多流畅就一定好。相反，面对启蒙阶段几乎没有什么英语基础的小学生，教师的教学语言必须简洁、明了、有效。即：要用最简单的英语，准确表达出复杂的指令或要求。
(四)优秀的少儿英语教师同样应该具备其他一些非英语素质
包括道德品质、心理品质、艺术特长、智力与情感因素
1、道德品质：热爱教育事业，热爱学生，这是一个少儿英语教师最基本的道德品质。
2、心理品质：自信、活泼、开朗、公平、公正。创造活泼愉快的课堂教学氛围，要求教师的性格活泼、开朗，在活动中以公平、公正的态度对待学生，避免由此给学生在心里上造成的一些困扰甚至伤害。
3、艺术特长：唱歌、舞蹈、绘画、表演。4-12周岁之间的孩子活泼好动，爱表现，善模仿，他们爱玩，爱唱，爱跳，爱画，爱游戏，爱表演，这就决定了少儿英语课堂教学必须创建以活动为主的教学模式。
4、智力与情感因素，包括想象力、创造力、激情、灵感。
艺术创作是需要想象力、创造力、激情和灵感的。教育作为一门艺术，同样需要想象力、创造力、激情与灵感。所以在少儿英语课堂教学活动中，教师必须投入大量的情感与精力，才能创造出平等、和谐、高效的课堂教学。
