Qingming Festival, also known as Pure Brightness Festival or Tomb-sweeping Day, is one of the 24 segments of the Chinese calendar. It normally falls on the 4th or 5th of April, between spring plowing and summer weeding, and is a time to pay respects to one's ancestors and to tidy their gravesite. On this day, whole families, young and old, go to the gravesite of deceased family members to burn incense and perform a ritual offering while clearing away plant overgrowth from the gravesite.
Qingming Festival is when Chinese people visit the graves or burial grounds of their ancestors. Traditionally, people brought a whole rooster with them to the graves visited but the occasion has become less formal over time. The festival originated from Hanshi Day (寒食节, literally, Day with cold food only), a memorial day for Jie Zitui (介子推). Jie Zitui died in 636 BC in the Spring and Autumn Period. He was one of many followers of Duke Wen of Jin before he became a duke.
Once, during Wen's 19 years of exile, they had no food and Jie prepared some meat soup for Wen. Wen enjoyed it a lot and wondered where Jie had obtained the soup. It turned out Jie had cut a piece of meat from his own thigh to make the soup. Wen was so moved he promised to reward him one day. However, Jie was not the type of person who sought rewards. Instead, he just wanted to help Wen to return to Jin to become king.
Once Wen became duke, Jie resigned and stayed away from him. Duke Wen rewarded the people who helped him in the decades, but for some reason he forgot to reward Jie, who by then had moved into the forest with his mother. Duke Wen went to the forest, but could not find Jie. Heeding suggestions from his officials, Duke Wen ordered men to set the forest on fire to force out Jie. However, Jie died in the fire. Feeling remorseful, Duke Wen ordered three days without fire to honour Jie's memory. The county where Jie died is still called Jiexiu (介休, literally “the place Jie rests forever”).
今天，我和爸爸妈妈一起来到了老家。家里来了很多人：有姑姑，姑父，就连我的哥哥和弟弟也回来了。爸爸和姑姑们买了很多冥纸和冥币给太爷爷和太奶奶扫墓。在给太爷爷和太奶奶磕头的时候我一不小心被旁边树枝的刺扎了一下。弟弟的手也被扎破了。爷爷用铲子把墓旁边的杂草清理了一下，还给太爷爷他们的墓上盖了个帽子。爸爸把买来的烟花点了，那烟花跟五彩缤纷的小花一样缓缓落下非常美丽，最后我拉弟弟一起回家了。
下雨了，下雨了！在雨中，又是清明节，让我想起一句诗：”清明时节雨纷纷，路上行人欲断魂。“春天的雨，带着一丝凉意，飘飘悠悠的洒向大地。树儿的新叶子，会不会冷？那娇嫩的`小花呢？会不会才开放，就被打落、凋零？经过春雨清洗过的草坪，绿绿的，草尖上还挂着一滴滴晶莹剔透的小雨珠。我一走近，就能闻到泥土的气味，还有淡淡的青草味。那草坪，看起来多么柔软，多么舒服！
雨中，小蚂蚁是不是在小草和枯树叶下躲雨？雨中，叶儿们洗了个澡，伸伸懒腰。花儿们在雨后纷纷开放，红的，黄的，粉的“”“姹紫嫣红，它们一起向春雨姐姐问好。我的小乌龟来福也喜欢看雨，一看就趴在窗台上不动了。

Literally meaning ”clear“ (Qing) and ”bright“ (Ming), this Chinese festival falls in early spring, on the 106th day after the winter solstice. It is a ”spring“ festival, and it is an occasion for the whole family to leave the home and to sweep the graves of their forebears. Chinese being practical people this sweeping of the graves is given an extended period, that is, 10 days before and after Qing Ming day. Among some dialect groups a whole month is allocated.

今天是清明节，妈妈带着我跟弟弟回到了乡下，来到了外公家里。屋后有密密麻麻的竹子，还有钻出地面的笋芽儿，河边有许多的野菜：有野芹菜、鸭脚板、野木耳、水蕨子……特别是院子门口有几株引人注目的茶花树跟桃树，茶花树开满了大红的茶花，桃树开满了粉红的桃花。我跟哥哥好奇的数了一下，发现茶花有6片花瓣，128根花蕊，桃花有5片花瓣，51根花蕊。多数几朵花，数量就不一样。
到了下午，我跟外公、舅舅、妈妈、哥哥、弟弟一起去茅园山给姥姥扫墓。到了姥姥的墓前，外公用山刀砍了一棵小树，插在姥姥的坟墓上，把挂山钱挂在小树上，然后点燃蜡烛、鞭炮，最后我们都在姥姥的墓前拜了三下，就离开了。
在回家的路上，我问妈妈：“清明节为什么要扫墓？”妈妈跟我说：“清明节给已故的亲人扫墓是中华民族的优良传统，扫墓是纪念先祖、缅怀亲人及行孝的具体表现。无论是活着的还是已经去世的，我们都应该尊重，爱戴，心中常怀感恩之心。”
听了妈妈的话，我明白了清明节扫墓的意义。
“清明时节雨纷纷，路上行人欲断魂；借问花市何处有？的士直驶望海村。”星期五，我与爸爸到江北观音桥的望海花市去开了一番眼界。
刚进花市，一股淡淡的花香味迎面扑来。接着听见了鸟叫声与人们贩卖物品的吵闹声。我想：“花市人真多，可真是热闹啊！”我随着爸爸走了进去，那鲜艳的颜色明亮的照耀着我的双眼，使我的眼睛迷蒙了，这一丛，那一簇，让我目不暇接，眼花缭乱。我与爸爸一边挪着小小的步子，一边观赏一些奇花异草。有绿叶镶嵌着就像猫眯眼睛的斑纹，叶底是紫色的，叫“钻石猫眼”；有像狮子头的“三色堇”；还有能捕捉虫子的“猪笼草”……我在花店里看见了许多鲜花的种子，我十分感兴趣，并购买了既害羞又含蓄的含羞草与碧绿的宝葫芦花种。
走过花店，我与爸爸又进入了观赏鱼市场。首先映入我眼帘的是一个生机勃勃的画卷。那一条条可爱的小鱼儿轻巧地穿过颜色各异、形态不一的珊瑚，那珊瑚似乎也情不自禁地跟着小鱼跳起了“摇摆舞”，我在鱼缸前看得津津有味。我还发现了一些不曾见过的小鱼。有身体很长爱左右摇摆的龙鱼；有尾巴就像剪刀身体漆黑的象鼻鱼；有全身血红，犹如一簇火苗的血鹦鹉……
“叽叽喳喳”这叫声连续不断，原来是一家鸟店发出的声音，我走进去瞧了瞧。有活泼的小麻雀；惹人喜爱的八哥；全身白如雪，犹如一团棉花的鹦鹉……
清明节逛花市的人可真多啊！这些男男女女、老老少少的人都来购买美丽的鲜花，去祭奠先逝的亲人，以对逝者表示深切的哀思，送去一分挂念。我为这文明、古朴的民风而感到欣慰，望普天之下的中国人要继承与发扬尊老爱幼的优良传统：清明时节——家祭无忘思乃翁。
