一、利用图画书，进行语言训练
在教孩子认识周围具体事物进行语言训练的同时，家长还可借助图书教孩子学说话，如买一些《看图说话》及文图并茂的小图书等。儿童好奇心强，这些形形色色的图画，形象生动，容易引起孩子的兴趣，便于他接受。大人在教孩子看图书时，不要照本宣科，要一边看画一边讲，把画页上的内容概括成一、两句话，用简洁、生动、形象、适合儿童口语特点的语言讲出来，这样使孩子感到亲切，便于他们记忆和复述。对于较大幼儿来说，已有了一定的理解能力和接受能力，可让他们自己对着图画练习说话，大人只是适当地加以指导，这对训练孩子的说话能力和发挥其想象能力很有好处。
二、大胆想象，培养口语
想象是孩子们的天性，只有喜欢想象才会有所创造。而孩子们的想象是一个无限的资源，要多广就有多广，要多深就有多深，要多奇妙那就会有多奇妙。所以，孩子们的想象仿佛是童话中的宝库，丰富而神奇。既然有了这样一个巨大的资源宝库，那我们为什么不就地取材，充分利用呢?
比如看到雨后的彩虹，家长就可以问彩虹像什么，你想用它来干什么?你有什么问题要问彩虹?让孩子充分展开想象的翅膀，说出自己的想法。对于问题的答案，鼓励孩子追求“标新立异”，说出自己多姿多彩的想法，让孩子在个性的问答中，插上想象的翅膀。这样不但能培养孩子们的想象力，而且锻炼了学生们的口语表达能力。
三、随机设计，锻炼口才
鲁迅曾经说过：“小孩子往往喜欢听人谈天，更喜欢陪客，他的目的，固然在于一同吃点心，但也为了爱热闹，尤其是在研究别人的言语，看有什么对于自己有关系——能懂、该问，或可取的。”一方面，提醒家长重视通过各种途径，对孩子进行早期口语交际训练，要求家长忙里偷闲做孩子的忠实听众，可以让孩子把自己一天的所见所闻(班级、路上听到、看到的新鲜事)，说来听，内容不限，形式不拘。学生是最愿意和自己的亲人交谈的，特别是性格内向的学生，这是语言训练的最有效的办法之一。家长及时纠正孩子口语中的毛病，在与孩子谈话的过程中，要注意送给孩子最好的赞美，家长本人更应当善于倾听并有良好的习惯。二是设计一些口语家庭作业，让孩子在家庭中进行口语交际训练。布置家庭作业“打电话”(模拟)：让孩子和妈妈“打”电话，爸爸做评委;让孩子和爸爸“打”电话，妈妈做评委;让爸爸和妈妈“打”电话，孩子做评委。模拟家里有客人的场景，提供孩子口语交际的机会。让学生在家庭中多交流、多表达，注意运用礼貌用语，久而久之，他们便会性格开朗，语言流畅，有自己的见解。
四、借机发挥，培养口语
现在好多的儿童读物具有很多的优势：渗透着美，孕育着情，饱含着道理;古今中外，天上人间，古诗、儿歌，各种各样。那何不借机发挥，为学生创造培养口语能力、提高口语能力的条件呢?让孩子们练说，仿说，发挥说，创新说。鼓励孩子唱歌或朗诵短诗让你欣赏，或定期举行家庭表演会，以此训练孩子的胆子。还可以 鼓励孩子在亲友前讲笑话或与他人分享个人的特殊生活经历，如度假，旅游等。平时倾听孩子说话时，要多给孩子打气，对他们的努力要有具体的表扬，如“我很喜欢你描述的人物，很生动，你能不能再多讲一点?” 等，让你的鼓励为孩子的口才发挥推波助澜。
五、编创故事，培养口语
根据孩子的年龄特点，低年级的学生喜欢看故事、听故事、编故事。充分抓住这一特点，可以有意识地运用故事来训练学生说话的能力，提高学生的口语表达能力。
故事讲得好了，学生们的语言不仅完整，而且有一定的逻辑性，孩子们的想法也会有很大的创新。
首先是提高英语应试成绩。在应试成绩方面，英语口语学习还能有效提升英语语法知识的能量获得。
“说”，包括了很多方面的内容，并不简简单单的就是说话而已。其中就包括了英语应试试卷中高达二十分之多的情景会话考试的内容。
其次，小学英语口语学习不但能够直接或间接的提升英语应试能力，还能有效地带动学生对于英语学习的积极性，充分发挥其极大的兴趣。
英语口语的学习能够为孩子们在今后学习英语的道路上奠定更坚实的学习基础，也为孩子们在今后英语的学习中能够更加游刃有余积累了宝贵的经验。
一、兴趣是最好的老师
